Southwest Truck Driver Training Honored to Participate in Rep. Burgess Owens (UT) Education Roundtable
Southwest Truck Driver Training recently participated in a roundtable discussion of Las Vegas-area career schools led by Utah Congressman Burgess Owens. This roundtable event included 12 schools that are training students in a wide variety of areas vital to the economy, including allied health, cosmetology, and information technology.
Steve Strong, Vice President of Administration, proudly represented Southwest Truck Driver Training at the roundtable. “It was an honor to have the opportunity to speak with Congressman Owens and the great group of leaders from Las Vegas career schools and speak on the concerns from the trucking schools’ perspective,” says Strong. “I feel that Congressman Owens listened and asked good questions and will have the best interest of the career schools as he navigates this very important committee.”
Congressman Owens is a member of the U.S. House of Representative’s Committee on Education and Labor and is seeking appointment to Chair that committee. During the roundtable, many questions important to career education were discussed, from Title IV to Workforce Investment. Congressman Owens came away from the roundtable with a renewed appreciation for the issues facing career educational institutions. He vowed to work in support of career schools as a prominent sector should he be selected to Chair the Committee.
