Southwest Truck Driver Training in Phoenix is a student-focused, independent, family-owned driving school. Our goal is to train exceptional drivers and assist you in finding the right job placements, and our numerous positive reviews attest to the wonderful experience many students have had jump-starting their careers at Southwest Truck Driver Training.

Our ELDT-Registered Phoenix Campus Programs

Our Phoenix campus offers the chance to launch a CDL career in as few as four weeks. Our CDL programs are registered Entry-Level Driver Training (ELDT) with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration.

At our Phoenix campus, we offer the following ELDT-registered truck driving training programs:

  • Class A CDL theory (classroom training) and behind-the-wheel (BTW) training on the range and on the road
  • Class B CDL theory (classroom training) and behind-the-wheel (BTW) training on the range and on the road
  • Passenger (P) endorsement theory (classroom training) and behind-the-wheel (BTW) training on the range and on the road
  • School Bus (S) endorsement theory (classroom training) and behind-the-wheel (BTW) training on the range and on the road
  • Hazardous Materials (H) endorsement theory training
  • At our Phoenix, AZ, location, we also offer CDL refresher courses and RV driver instruction.

Over-the-road (OTR) truck drivers in Phoenix earn an average of $50,830 a year, or $24.44 per hour. If you don’t want an OTR job, there are many other regional or local commercial driving jobs you can qualify for after training at Southwest Truck Driver Training’s Phoenix campus.

Our campus has an excellent record of success, with hundreds of students graduating yearly. About 94% of our students earn a license and find a job right after training.

Further, we have state-of-the-art classrooms, sound systems, equipment, and learning materials.

Unlike many other schools, we don't use nearly obsolete vehicles that may be older than you are. Instead, our trucks are low-mileage full sleeper vehicles with 53-foot trailers. This is likely the type you'll get when you start your career.

Also, we train on both automatic and manual transmissions—a rarity in the industry.

At Southwest Truck Driver Training school in Phoenix, you learn from the best. Our instructors are state-certified examiners with at least three years of over-the-road experience. Most have five or more years under their belts.

We'll be by your side when it's time to look for work. We're not owned by a trucking company, so you can shop your talents to different employers.

We invite some of the most respected companies to recruit at our Phoenix trucking school. Whether you are interested in OTR jobs, local work, and more, we can refer you to companies needing those drivers.

In conjunction with our Las Vegas and Tucson schools, we host up to six job fairs yearly.

When you train with us, you receive job help for the rest of your life. Our success depends on your success!

    - Jarvis Taylor

"School was awesome! You learn the basics. It's enough to get your license. That's all you need. The rest is up to you to find a job using your own due diligence and the school's employer resource list for Local and OTR. Would recommend the school to everyone.
    - Will Wright

"The school taught me everything I needed to know about trucking. The instructors and staff are great. These instructors are funny and make learning easy and fun. If you're looking to get your CDL, go to Southwest Truck Driving school."
    - Breeezz Davis

"My classroom instructor was Doug. His vast knowledge of the industry was helpful during the learning stages. He is a very intelligent man but can teach at a level [so] that all can succeed. Also, his countless stories kept the class light and took off the pressure sometimes."

"The course instructor John was incredible. To take [...] completely different personalities and teach them how to drive a commercial truck in 70 hours is remarkable. Incredible patience, knowledge and a very funny personality."
    - Rick Stoffel
