Werner Enterprises Hosts Southwest Truck Driver Training at Fall Driver Appreciation Event
On September 13, Southwest Truck Driver Training students and staff were honored to participate in Werner Enterprises’ semi-annual Driver Appreciation Week event, held at Werner’s Phoenix terminal.
This event gave future CDL graduates an inside look at one of America’s leading trucking companies. Our staff and students heard from Werner drivers and listened to a keynote and town hall moderated by Derek Leathers, Chairman and CEO of Werner Enterprises.
“National Truck Driver Appreciation Week is a wonderful opportunity to honor and thank our professional drivers for taking on one of our economy’s most essential and demanding roles,” said Leathers in a press statement. “These individuals exemplify excellence as they deliver goods safely and punctually, and we are committed to recognizing their outstanding achievements.”
Southwest Truck Driver Training students mingled with drivers from Werner and catch up with several graduates of Southwest Truck Driver Training that went on to work for Werner after graduation.
“What an outstanding event. The students came away with so much information, not just about Werner, but the trucking industry,” said Steve Strong, Vice President of Administration at Southwest Truck Driver Training. “Thanks to everyone at Werner Enterprises for inviting us and making a special day for our students. Can’t wait until next year!”
