Southwest Truck Driver Training is currently seeking a highly motivated Assistant Training Department Manager. This is a fun, energetic, goal-orientated environment where business is thriving! This position is responsible for the leadership and the direction of the training functions. Areas include equipment, instructors, third party records, counseling and advisement of students. Work is performed with considerable independence under the general direction of the Training Department Manager. Position requires schedule, confidentiality and dress code adherence. 

 

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Coordinating the activities of student’s training.
  • Monitors and reviews instructors to ensure that all deadlines and quality standards are met.
  • Advises students regarding the scope and acceptance policies of training programs.
  • Monitors students’ progress to ensure eligibility criteria are met.
  • Reviews and process daily vehicle inspection reports and with Director’s approval arranges repair as necessary.
  • Reviews daily attendance and student status reports.
  • Maintains files on all instructors, employee status forms, etc.
  • Maintains log of all CDL tests completed.
  • Maintains a schedule for instructors to clean and fuel equipment.
  • Maintains a training schedule for students. 
  • Maintains and posts the upcoming weeks training schedule for all shifts.
  • Maintains and posts the test schedule for students and examiners as required.
  • Completes paperwork for State certification for new instructors and submits to ADOT MVD.
  • Fill out and submit to ADOT MVD all third-party tests completed by testers on a monthly basis.
  • Maintains monthly log of all preventative maintenance services and repairs and submits to Director for approval.
  • Maintains inventory of all training materials.
  • Maintains inventory of all truck maintenance products and tires to order.
  • Implements and ensures the campus is in compliance with the state and federal agencies by maintain thorough, up-to-date knowledge of rules and regulations.
  • Maintains appropriate records and files.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor or management.

Schedule will be as follows:

  • M-F: Typically 8am-5pm.  One day per week will be scheduled 2pm-11pm.
  • Sat/Sun: One weekend day per month (6am-4:30pm). Off on the Friday prior.  

Education and Experience:

  • 3 years minimum supervisory experience required
  • 3-5 years minimum commercial vehicle driving experience required
  • Current CDL Examiner a plus
  • Intermediate or higher level of computer experience, MS Office products a plus

 

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

Must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer, and to attend meetings at various sites within and away from the office; strength to lift and carry materials weighing up to 20 pounds.

 

Knowledge of: (at entry)

  • Considerable knowledge of computer and training related software applications
  • Ability to establish and maintain working relationships with institutional partners;
  • Ability to maintain accurate records, assemble and organize data, and to prepare reports;
  • Techniques for effectively representing SWTDT, including making effective public presentations and dealing with a variety of individuals from various socioeconomic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds, in person and over the telephone.

Job Type: Full-Time

Salary: $60-70k annually based on experience
